Ficus elastica 'abidjan'
Also called a Rubber Plant, a native of East India into central China, Southest Asia and Indonesia. The Abidjan can grow up to 3 metres indoors, it has glossy dark broad leaves that develop inside a crimson shoot. This plant does best in bright indirect light but can also tolerate spaces that are less bright. Water once the top 5-10cm of soil dries but never let the soil dry completely when the plant is actively growing. Only water once the soil is almost dry throughout in its dormant phase. Use a well draining soil with lots of organic compost.
